The 2015 NFL Draft Is Here!

The 2015 NFL Draft

Today is the one day that could change so many lives..

For about 4 to 5 years, thousands of men have endured the hard-fought seasons of college football hoping to one day hear their names called and shake hands with the NFL commissioner. Leading up to this day has so much media attention, high hearts and the sports world buzzing!

This year's draft will be lead by the competition of two great quarterbacks, whom both were Heisman recipients, Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota to see which QB will be taken first . A lot of NFL team's draft boards have Winston being taken first because he's considered a more "NFL" ready quarterback.

Winston is being regarded as a better fit because of his strong pocket presence as a college quarterback.

But the issue is Jameis Winston's  off the field issues, shenanigans and drama at FSU. Those problems ranging from sexual assault allegations to shoplifting accusations.

Although, Marcus Mariota is being shopped around as a better athlete. Mariota, is hands down  the fastest quarterback in the draft. He also has less character issues and a better off the field reputation.  However, the thing that separates the two is that, Mariota ran a typical spread offense. Generally, the QB's that come from spread offenses don't usually transition well into the NFL.  It will be exciting to see who gets chosen first today during the first round of the NFL draft.

Here is a mock draft by sports analyst Michael Brewer...

Famous Jameis In More Limbo

Things Getting Crabby For Jameis Literally

As much as people say there's no such thing as bad publicity, former FSU QB Jameis Winston definitely creates a new bracket for himself.

From scandal to scandal, the 2013 Heisman Trophy Winner, has been in the spotlight for almost all the wrong reasons, stemming from his off the field drama.

In light of the situation and scandal over the crab legs he faced at FSU, Jameis was featured on the annual NFL Draft Academy, which is a series of one on one interviews with the top mock draftees for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Last night's episode dropped a bit of a bomb because, Winston changed up his story and explained that an employee from the store he was accused of stealing from, was actually given to him as a gift.

Publix however, stands by their original statement that Jameis stole the crab legs and walked out. But its a little shady of a situation because Winston is now saying that it's not the first time he's received handouts from the mystery Publix employee.

But of course now that the truth maybe being aired, Publix is saying, "after the 2014 arrest, they launched an internal investigation and "never came across any evidence that suggests there was an arrangement that Mr. Winston or any other FSU athlete had with an employee." -TMZ

Another item that sticks out is the surveillance video shown in court and online. From a simple viewpoint, it looks like Winston simply walked into the grocery store and picked up an order of crab legs. One could only imagine that if someone was in fact stealing from a store of that size, that they would have walked out a bit more concealed or walked at a quicker pace in fear of being caught... But we'll leave that to the courts.

Manny Pacquiao Using New Bag?

Pacquiao's Camp Adds New Special Speed Bag to Gym

With the fight coming up on May 2, there has been a great deal of media attention directed towards the fighters.

For Mayweather, he's been seen in the media on a different note. The Undefeated World Champion has switched from his usual cocky and arrogant mindset to a focused and humbled one. He's been noted in interviews to giving genuine respect to his opponent Manny Pacquiao and his camp.

But Manny Pacquiao took a different route with Floyd's face....

Some may feel its not a big deal because typically some fighters or athletes will use the image of their opposition as motivation during training leading up to the competition.. but for a boxing bout of this level, it seems like that little stab Manny Pacquiao took today adding the new Floyd Speed Bag might add additional fire to the fight itself.

The funny thing fact is that the 'Mayweather Bag'  happens to be a gift given Manny Pacquiao.  So deliberate or not, it definitely makes it interesting that he wasn't hesitant to use it during a morning speed bag session because the bag isn't just for looks it was painted with  a special varnish that can withstand most if not any kind of beating.

Of course, Floyd's camp wasn't going to not take a punch back at Pacquiao saying, "Have fun with your 'Mayweather' punching bag because its the only way your going to beat up Floyd's face."-TMZ

Floyd Maywetaher's Money Team made it clear that yes it was humorous item but the stunt is just sparking more animosity towards Manny Pacquiao.

May 2nd will truly be a spectacular day when the bell rings for the start of the first round, because the entire world will be able to see what this fight means to the two camps.

Former Patriots TE Now Felon!

Aaron Hernandez Given Guilty Verdict

Following the Aaron Hernandez Case, today he was found guilty of 1st degree murder for killing Odin Lloyd.

With the conviction, Hernandez was automatically given a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

It's very saddening to see a player with such great talent and potential throw it all away over something that was probably so minute it could have been avoided.

The jurors looked into the case for 6 days and had multiple breaks asked for due to the complexity of the case but ultimately came to a conclusion for the former New Patriots TE.

Over the years with the New England Patriots, Aaron Hernandez was one of Tom Brady's favorite targets, lining him up at a bunch of different spots to give him the ball and let him work his magic downfield.

The media attention around the case is similar to those of the Ray Lewis and infamous OJ Simpson, but their cases were on the other side of the fence.

For Hernandez's fiancĂ©,  Shayanna Jenkins, she was granted immunity for her testimony in court after initially pleading the fifth, she was given the choice to either testify or face jail time for contempt.

Aaron Hernandez's friends that were also with him at the time of the murder, Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace were also convicted of murder charges.

More details about the case are to be expected. Condolences go out to the Lloyd family and may his soul rest in peace.

Complete Rebuild?

Lakers Need All The Help They Can Get

With their fearless leader Kobe Bryant out, the Lakers are in a complete jam not on the court but also from a venue standpoint. The Lakers have been struggling to fill seats in the Staples Center.

Sitting a whopping 22-55 for the regular season, its become apparent that no ones showing up to watch the Purple and Gold. The Lakers organization and the Staples Center have come together to make the executive decision to just cut ticket prices, in hopes of people coming by the mass to watch a game.

The organization has announced they will continue to cut higher priced tickets to have the arena filled.
For an example, the usual $400 tickets -- right behind court side seats -- are going for $119. -TMZ Sports

The idea of cutting the prices down is a simple but great one because if you look at teams like the Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Atlanta Hawks or Cleveland Cavaliers whom are doing well this season all have significantly cheaper ticket prices and tend to relatively have packed arenas for home games.

It wouldn't be logical to make the tickets too cheap but from the standpoint of a team struggling on the court and suffering to have the minimum amount of fans in their arena, it's a great marketing decision for the Los Angeles Lakers to finally make because their average ticket price of 130.00  is up with the New York Knicks, another team struggling on the court.

If this works for the Lakers, the New York Knicks should definitely lower their ticket prices. Although the venue of MSG is indeed a great one, more people would be able to enjoy a Knicks game.

The Game Pushing the Limits Literally

The Game Might Face Big Charges

Rapper the Game might be facing battery charges after punching on off duty police officer in a basketball game.

TMZ covered the story, states that The Game and the cop were going back in forth during the game but matters quickly escalated when the Game says the cop threatened to get his firearm from his bag.

Moments later, the Game then punched the officer. Police were called to the scene and investigated the incident.

The funny thing is that celebrities in general, are so quick to flare their tempers and react to situation in irrational ways. Little did Game know who he had punched. Game was under the impression that the individual his attacked was a typical person but it happened to be a L.A.P.D off-duty officer.

On the flip side, the off-duty officer also has issued a statement saying that it was The Game whom issued the threat and punched him and fled the scene.

If the first year officer was actually the one doing the threatening, he could be facing some extreme legal trouble and be in danger of losing his job to say the least. This story could pan out to be extremely interesting..
